Our Capstone Journey with Intergalactic Instacart!

Hello fellow gamers and developers!

We are a team carrot, a group of passionate GDAP and GLD students in Sheridan College 2023, and we are excited to share with you our capstone project, Intergalactic Instacart!

The Concept

The year is 3022, and Earth is no longer a livable place for most of humanity. Intergalactic Instacart now delivers delicious goods like frozen burgers and pizza pockets to customers throughout the galaxy. Players assume the role of a human delivery person, working on a planet colonized by AI. Although humans have regained their freedom from robots, they now live in poverty, resorting to jobs like delivery to make money for living.

As players complete their deliveries in this challenging environment, they must master platforming and combat abilities to survive encounters with enemy aliens. They also have the option to deliver items to a mysterious dark market person, who will convert them into weapons to aid in their struggle for survival.

Game Features

  • Gameplay: Combine third-person shooting and platforming to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies when you deliver goods to your robot customers.
  • Expansive Open World: AI-colonized planet filled with unique environments, hidden secrets, and dangerous enemies.
  • Upgradeable Equipment: Collect and deliver items to upgrade your weapons and gear, increasing your chances of survival in this dangerous world.
  • Dynamic Missions: Take on various delivery missions with different objectives and difficulties, and choose whether to prioritize speed or stealth.

Project Preparation

During the previous semester, our team has focused on writing design documents for Intergalactic Instacart. We have created:

  • Game Design Document (GDD): Outlining the game's core mechanics, characters, story, and gameplay elements.
  • Level Design Document (LDD): Detailing the design of the game's levels, environments, and progression.
  • Technical Design Document (TDD): Describing the technology, tools, and frameworks we will use to build the game.
  • Task Management in HacknPlan: Breaking down the project into manageable tasks and assigning them to team members.

Upcoming Challenge: Real Workplace Simulation

Next semester, our team will face a unique challenge: developing the game within 14 weeks, while simulating a real workplace environment. We'll be working closely together as programmers, designers, and artists, using task management to ensure we stay on track and deliver a high-quality game.

Stay Connected!

We are happy to share our progress with you and learn from your feedback. Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey. We can't wait to show you what Intergalactic Instacart has in store!

Best regards,
Sin Yee Tang, Cindy
